President of the Senate of the Czech Republic’s Parliament visited the occupation line in the village of Odzisi

Miloš Vystril, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic’s Parliament, visited the occupation line in the village of Odzisi with the accompanying delegation while on an official visit to Georgia. The legislative delegation learned about the outcomes of Russia’s occupation regime and the current situation in place.

The visit of the Czech parliamentary delegation to the occupation line is of particular importance, according to Irakli Beraia, Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, who accompanied the delegation. As he noted, the guests were able to see firsthand what the Russian occupation is like and the serious consequences of this regime.

“Visitors have the opportunity to view shuttered crossings, barbed wire, and illegal border infrastructure firsthand. This is especially true for EU member states, as Georgia has signed an EU-brokered ceasefire deal. It is critical that EU member states exert pressure on Russia to fulfill its duties under the ceasefire agreement and international law. What is happening in Ukraine now is a continuation of what happened in Georgia in 2008, and hence the international community’s efforts must be consolidated”, - said Irakli Beraia.
