New NATO Liaison Office Head meets representatives of Lelo party

Alexander Vinnikov, the new Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, met today with the representatives of opposition Lelo party.

The NATO official said after the meeting that it was also interesting for him “to meet different players” of the local political scene.

He was also asked about the main messages from the Madrid Summit this year regarding Georgia and its expectations on the country’s integration process.

“I cannot determine in advance what the Allies will decide and what messages they will send. I can tell you that the Madrid Summit will take place at a very crucial time and will focus on the consequences and impact that Russia’s brutal attack on Ukraine has caused, which is a clear violation of international law.

The focus will be on adopting a further strategic concept, which is one of the fundamental documents of NATO, setting out NATO"s strategic vision for the next decade. And, of course, I expect that Georgia’s aspirations for membership will be reflected in the final document that will be adopted”, - said Alexander Vinnikov.
