Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine thanks the Government of Georgia for its support. According to Andrii Kasianov, up to 20,000 Ukrainian citizens have entered Georgia since the beginning of the war, of which 5,500 are minors.
“In coordination with the Government of Georgia, as well as in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner, we are taking all necessary measures to meet their basic needs.
Some of the citizens of Ukraine are already employed in various fields in Georgia. We are grateful to the Prime Minister, who said that Georgia will continue to support and assist Ukrainian refugees, for which the Georgian Government will allocate USD 7 million.
We expect that the relevant decisions will be made by the Government in the coming days and there will be no problems with the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees. We are expecting this from June 1, 2022.
We are grateful to the Government of Georgia, in particular the Minister of Education and Science, for supporting the opening of the Ukrainian sector”, - added Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine.
