The Parliamentary Delegation of the Latvian Parliament, headed by the Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee, Uldis Budriķis is visiting Georgia with the special invitation of the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili.
The visit aims at the expression of the political support of Latvia to Georgia, especially to the EU membership application of Georgia and the enhancement of the Parliamentary cooperation in the bilateral and multilateral formats against the background of the Russian military aggression in Ukraine and the regional security challenges.
The visit includes the meetings in the Parliament and the visit to the village Odzisi at the occupation line.
“Latvia strongly supports Georgia and stands by it. We know that this period will be important for Georgia. Latvia will do its best to get Georgia candidate status. We respect the rule of law and democracy, Latvia can’t interfere in Georgia’s domestic politics and can’t assess the situation”, - said Uldis Budriķis.
