The Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Matti Vanhanen and the Finnish MPs.

At the meeting, the parties underlined the productive bilateral relations between the countries and stressed the positive development of the Parliamentary cooperation and the links between the Friendship Groups.

Papuashvili dwelt on the EU membership application made by Georgia and the respective expectations; he thanked Finland for supporting Georgia in its EU aspirations and overviewed the cooperation with NATO. He noted that against the Russian aggression in Ukraine, NATO membership acquires particular importance.

He wished Finland good luck in accession to NATO.
