Europe says depolarization is needed to get candidate status, rally organizers are doing the opposite. Such a statement made today the Speaker of the Parliament.
“Today’s rally is organized by the United National Movement, its youth wing and the Shame movement… In the opinion of the European Commission [EC], there was a call for polarization to be reduced. Depolarization is the only issue that the Government cannot do without the opposition.
The purpose of this rally is what we see - a direct call to change the Government and so on. There were statements from both politicians and, unfortunately, media representatives that we should be removed and so on. I think we all follow the social network. Europe and the EC in their recommendations say that in order for Georgia to be granted candidate status, it is necessary for the political elite to depolarize. Unfortunately, both the media and the civil sector are part of this polarization. Demonstrators are doing the exact opposite”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
