Georgians need to stop being hostages of one person, member of the European Parliament Rasa Juknevičienė said today in her speech.
“Georgian people deserve our support and this is a really important moment, but Georgia seems to be in the captivity of one person. If Georgian Dream doesn’t understand what de-oligarchization means, which is mentioned in the proposal of the European Commission, I will help them to understand - it means “de-Bidzinization” or “de-Ivanishvilization” of Georgia.
So this is what Georgians need to stop being hostages of one person. We have adopted a resolution that mentions sanctions and we should think about it.
So I think we should help the country to get rid of such, frankly, Kremlin-like policies. My last issue concerns the fact that we should rely on civil society. We are seeing efforts and people are organizing the biggest protests.
I see optimistic efforts from civil society in this country, and I think they will do their job, and I hope that we will be together with these people in the European Union family”, - said the MEP.
