The Chairman of the Parliament issued an order on the approval of the “Rule of Submission of Candidates to the Parliament of Georgia” for the position of the Public Defender in 2022.

The document has already been posted on the website of the legislature.

The order can be appealed within 1 month from the date of its public announcement in the Administrative Affairs Board of the Tbilisi City Court.

Applicants must be Georgian citizens, and the same candidate cannot be selected as Ombudsman twice consecutively under the Georgian Constitution and Organic Law on Public Defenders.

The term of office of the current Public Defender of Georgia, Nino Lomjaria, expires on December 8, 2022.
