Minister of Health explains why the foreign doctor, who came to Georgia at his own expense to get involved in the case of Mikheil Saakashvili, was not given a license.
“The regulatory agency and the special commission in the Ministry of Health oversee the right to practice medicine in Georgia. We do not grant visit rights to patients or prisoners.
In this particular case, the submitted documentation did not correspond to the requested one, so the commission considered it inappropriate to grant the right to medical activity to this particular person.
The list of documents, which was necessary to present to obtain a license for medical activity, was incomplete, as far as I know, and that"s why it could not be satisfied”, - said Zurab Azarashvili.
