Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Park Jae-Hyeon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of K-Water Corporation today. The latter is a company, which made an investment into Nenskra Hydro Power Plant (HPP) of Georgia.
Meeting was focused on the implementation of current and future projects in the energy sector of the country. Significance of investments in sustainable and renewable energy sources was highlighted at the meeting.
According to Irakli Garibashvili, the Government of Georgia offers a supportive environment to investors.
He noted that engagement of the State is important in the construction of large HPPs by taking into account the national interests of the country. According to the Head of Government, Nenskra HPP is important for the economic development of the country, energy security and energy independence. Acceleration of its construction and timely completion of the project is important, as noted at the meeting.
Nenskra HPP is one of the largest investment projects, which envisages the construction of an HPP with a capacity of 280 megawatts in the Svaneti region of Georgia. Investment value of the project is 1.05 BLN USD.
Meeting was attended by Tong Op Kim, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Korea; Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Romeo Mikautadze, Deputy Minister of Economy.
