Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Alen Simonyan, President of the National Assembly of Armenia.

The conversation at the meeting revolved around the good-neighborly relations between Georgia and Armenia and prospects of future cooperation. Issues pertaining to the cooperation between the Parliaments of the two countries were discussed. It was noted that the cooperation between the Parliaments of Georgia and Armenia is developing steadily in positive dynamics, in this way further strengthening their good-neighborly relations.

The situation in the region was discussed at the meeting. Emphasis was placed on the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, also underlining that the timely de-escalation of the situation and the resumption of dialogue to solve outstanding issues serve the common interests of all sides. It was noted that the peaceful neighborhood initiative proposed by Georgia may serve as a solid foundation in this regard, so that the sides may restore confidence in one another.

The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia, Ashot Smbatyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Eduard Aghajanyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, Sisak Gabrielyan, and the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia, Tigran Seyranyan, also by the Head of the Government Administration, Revaz Javelidze, and the Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, Irakli Kvanchakhadze, representing the Georgian side.
