The draft law on de-oligarchization was passed in the second reading in the Parliament. Such a statement made today the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.
“De-oligarchization is one of the 12 priorities of the European Union. The draft law on de-oligarchization was passed in the second reading in the Parliament. In our opinion, it is very important that this bill be sent to the Venice Commission and then these recommendations be taken into account.
This was also mentioned by European Commissioner Varhelyi when he was here last week. It is up to Georgia to decide how to proceed when it comes to de-oligarchization. It is about creating a framework, a system, where there are no vested interests and influence on politics by certain individuals.
We hope that this bill will be sent to the Venice Commission for a conclusion, and the recommendations of the Venice Commission will be taken into account”, - said Pawel Herczynski.
