Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze opens 4th meeting of Interagency Council on Sustainable Development Goals

The Head of the Administration of the Government, Revaz Javelidze, opened the 4th meeting of the Interagency Council on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Held at the Rooms Hotel in Tbilisi, the meeting was attended by more than 60 representatives of public institutions, the Parliament, the UN, and international and nongovernmental organizations.

Besides Revaz Javelidze, the meeting’s participants were also addressed with an opening speech by Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia. The council’s members discussed progress toward the implementation of SDGs in terms of human capital and social welfare, economic development, good governance, and environmental protection.

Also today, the Secretariat of the Interagency Council on Sustainable Development Goals presented the meeting’s participants with the 2023 Thematic Working Groups Action Plan. It was noted that, in the process of the plan’s implementation, engagement from both the country’s international partners and civil sector will be ensured.

It was also pointed out at the meeting that the activities defined under the Action Plan will make a tremendous contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in Georgia. At the meeting’s conclusion, the council approved the 2023 Thematic Working Groups Action Plan and instructed the Administration of the Government to coordinate its implementation.
