People are being misled, they think that Georgia should send simple generators to Ukraine, in fact we are talking about high-power generators, which are not produced in Georgia. Such a statement made today the Chairman of Georgian Dream, while responding to the statement of Ukraine’s Charge d’Affaires.
“As of the generators and transformers. They present it to the public as if Ukraine is demanding the so-called “dvizhoks”. People really think so. They tell me what’s the issue with sending generators to Ukraine. People think that Ukraine is asking for simple generators, in this case we are talking about high-power generators, for example, “Real Madrid”, which is a football club with several billions of money, gave a total of 20 generators to Ukraine.
People laughed at this, thinking that they gave 20 “dvizhok”. In fact, we are talking about high-power generators, which do not physically exist in Georgia.
We can help financially in terms of humanitarian aid, and you probably know that our help has been very large-scale. People are misled - they think that Georgia should send simple generators to Ukraine, which is a lie. In fact, we are talking about high-power generators, which are not produced by us. We can buy high power generators and ship them to Ukraine.
We did not have a problem with humanitarian aid, on the contrary, we were very open-handed, but no one should deceive the public that Ukraine is asking us to send “dvizhoks”. The scale of humanitarian aid is very large - one of the largest among countries. Therefore, this topic cannot be used for speculation. We are committed to sending maximum humanitarian aid to our Ukrainian friends.
When Kasianov goes to the briefing, it is better for him to meet with the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and clarify such issues there. It is a story of elementary diplomatic etiquette. Such speculations should not happen, a person wants a second front, so be it. Humanitarian aid is what we have been doing and we will be open in that direction, there is no question about that.
Neither the acting ambassador nor the radical opposition should use this topic for speculations”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
