The aggregate volume of foreign direct investments in our country has doubled to reach 1.675 billion USD. And, compared to the pre-COVID period, this indicator is up 70%. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to Irakli Garibashvili, the doubled FDI indicator illustrates that investors clearly see the stable, peaceful situation in the country. He pointed out that Georgia ranks 1st in the world in terms of budget transparency.
“I would like to bring to public attention a few pieces of news. The first topic I want to discuss relates to the doubling of foreign direct investments over the past year. Despite what is happening in the region - friends, everyone is well aware of the fact that a terrible war is on in Ukraine, tensions everywhere, a recession in Europe and across the world - against this backdrop, the aggregate volume of foreign direct investments in our country has made up 1.675 billion USD, almost double year-over-year. I also would like to say that, compared to the pre-COVID period - 2019, for example - foreign direct investments are up 70%. This illustrates that investors clearly see the situation in the country. Firstly, it is stability that we have put in place, peace, a stable period in the country, and transparency. Here I would like to remind everyone once again that Georgia ranks 1st in the world in terms of budget transparency. This says it all about the Government that the country has today, about the authorities, and the policy we have on business, investors in general.
The Governance Indicators show that Georgia has achieved serious progress over the recent period. As the Prime Minister pointed out, in Control of Corruption, Georgia ranks 21st in Europe and 18th among the top twenty in Continental Europe.
Recently, the World Bank’s survey was published. According to the Governance Indicators, our country has achieved serious progress over the recent period. For example, in Control of Corruption, Georgia ranks 40th in the world. Among the same countries, our country ranks 21st in Europe and 18th among the top twenty in Continental Europe in Control of Corruption. We are ahead of eleven EU member states and thirteen NATO member states. This is an outcome we have achieved as a result of our ten years in power.
I would like to remind everyone once again that, according to the World Justice Project, our country ranks 30th in the world in the Absence of Corruption index. I would like to reiterate that our country ranks 18th among the top twenty in Europe”, - concluded the Prime Minister.
