The Gender Equality Council, within the summary meeting on activity for 2022, held a presentation of the first digital gender equality library.

The Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili addressed the attendees emphasizing the productive activity of the Council and noting that the interest towards the GEC activity is immense.

The Speaker overviewed the legal initiatives and changes of the Council and thanked the Council members, as well as donor organizations – UNDP and IFES – for their support in the establishment of the digital library.

“I would like to thank our donors and supporters for their aid, for their engagement in the Parliament. It is their immense merit that the Parliament and other state institutions in the country remain active”, - he stated.

The GEC Chair, Nino Tsilosani introduced the presentation on activity for 2022 and in detail overviewed the main directions, initiatives and activities upheld in 2022.

“As of the initiatives of the Council introduced in 2022, I would like to highlight the new gender equality state concept, which has already been initiated; the state concept on economic empowerment of women, which is the first precedent in terms that it is the first multi-sector and long-term policy; gender impact analysis institutionalization; provision of state services regardless of the status of the victim; and thematic inquiries. At the same time, in 2023, we launch the digital library that has been established by us with the support of our donor organizations”, - she noted.

The library unifies the Georgian and foreign literature on gender equality and simplifies the search process for the persons concerned. The event was resumed with the discussion with the participation of the students and was attended by the members of the legislative and executive authorities, as well as the diplomatic missions and civil society.
