It is not clear why our political opponents fight against the New Year’s slogan “City of Peace”. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi, while presenting the 2022 report to the Tbilisi City Council.
“I want to start today’s report by reminding you that any work, any achievement, becomes pale if there is no peace. Development, future plans and perspectives, projects, are important only in a peaceful environment, it is in this case that our work, learning, creativity or aspirations have meaning.
Therefore, it was a bit strange for me when this year’s New Year’s slogan – “City of Peace” was followed by a lot of speculation. This, along with being incomprehensible, is categorically unacceptable for me. It is not even a funny argument, as if this year’s slogan was chosen on the basis of the principle of mockery.
It is simply impossible to talk seriously about this topic, I don’t like it, you don’t like it either, but what is the price of peace, our friendly Ukrainian people know it best today, that’s why in this new year I wish peace and victory together with peace to every person fighting for freedom. I wish peace to our country, our people and our city.
Together with the Ukrainians, we, the citizens of Georgia, are the people who know very well the price of peace and, unfortunately, we know very well what it means when there is a war in your country.
Considering all this, it is not clear why the word “peace” annoyed the opponents so bitterly and why they fought and are fighting against this slogan. However, if we take into account the direction, quality and narrow party interests of the political motivations of the opponents, everything becomes clear and obvious”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
