Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said, “Russia aims to continue the comprehensive development of allied relations with South Ossetia and Abkhazia”.

“Recognizing the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia 15 years ago, Russia guaranteed their reliable protection and progressive development, establishment as modern and self-sufficient states.

Most of the population of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have Russian citizenship and support the deepening of the alliance with Russia”, - said Maria Zakharova.
