The Government of Georgia or at least the President of Georgia should have been in Kyiv today - unfortunately, I could not get an invitation. Such a statement made Salome Zourabichvili at the event dedicated to the anniversary of the war in Ukraine at the Orbeliani Palace.
“On behalf of the society, personally, as the President, I have expressed unwavering support of Georgia to Ukraine in every possible place and format during this one year, and I will continue to do so. I believe that the Georgian Government or at least the President of Georgia should have been in Kyiv today. I expressed my readiness for this.
Unfortunately, I didn’t receive an invitation. Instead, despite the invitation, the Parliament didn’t consider it necessary to send an official delegation. I am sorry that as a result of this, only the opposition are represented in Kyiv today, although I am still glad that they are there.
It is clear to everyone that Georgia cannot afford to assist Ukraine as much stronger European countries can and that our solidarity is mainly expressed on a moral level, so we must defend our principles even more firmly”, - said the President of Georgia.
