The Bureau made a decision to assign the leading and mandatory Committees for consideration of the Draft Law on Registration of Foreign Agents, authored by the MPs from the “People’s Power” within the Majority Sozar Subari, Dimitri Khundadze, Mikheil Kavelashvili, Guram Macharashvili, Dachi Beraia and Victor Japaridze.
The initiators have also introduced the Draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence. In this regard, MP from the “People’s Power” Eka Sepashvili made brief elucidation: “Deriving from the wide dissent in our society and frequent speculations, I would like to underline that the edition that we additionally submitted as an alternative version is a precise translation from the American law. It has been registered to allow our society to compare these two drafts during the Committee sittings and get assured that our initial version is much better”.
According to her, at the meeting with the leadership of the Majority, the agreement was achieved that both Drafts would be adopted with the I reading and submitted to the Venice Commission for the opinion and only based on the recommendations of the latter, one of the Drafts would pass.
The Bureau discussed the estimated plenary agenda for the next session week, as well as new legal initiatives and organizational issues.
As the Bureau opted, the justified comments of the President of Georgia concerning the Draft Organic Law on the National Bank have been submitted to the Budget and Finance Committee.
The Bureau assigned leading and mandatory Committees on new legal initiatives and made a decision on extension of the consideration terms of sundry Drafts.
