Anyone who votes for any version of the People Power bill will be directly responsible for putting Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future at risk. Such a statement made today the US Ambassador to Georgia.

“Here is a real question - what is in the interests of Georgia? It is clear that Georgia does not need any version of [the draft law], it does not need this law. And it is also clear that whoever votes for any of the versions will be directly responsible for putting Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future at risk.

The United Nations, the US, the EU, the Council of Europe, many member states, friends of Georgia around the world have repeatedly called on the Georgian authorities not to adopt this law, to stop the adoption of this law, because it will endanger the work of those organizations, including local organizations, whose efforts are aimed at improving the lives of local people, working for common goals related to a safe, prosperous future. This work has been going on for years in cooperation with the friends of Georgia and its local partners.

So the question arises - why? What is the main purpose of this law? And what is the main reason, because we see very well that the adoption of this law will really endanger the Euro-Atlantic future of Georgia, which is a very clear choice of the Georgian people”, - said Kelly Degnan.
