Freedom House responded to the ongoing protests in Georgia following the Georgian Parliament’s approval of a draft bill on “transparency of foreign influence” in its first reading on Twitter.
“We are alarmed by the violence between protesters and police in Georgia surrounding the draft foreign agent law. The fundamental right to peaceful assembly must be protected from petrol bombs, tear gas, and water cannons.
We also reiterate our concern over the proposed foreign agent laws and continue to urge Georgian authorities to reconsider the bills”, - reads the tweet of organization.
