Georgian Foreign Minister meets the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament

Cooperation between Georgia and Sweden, European Union integration process and the security environment were discussed in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament.

Ilia Darchiashvili and Talman Andreas Norlén underlined the “close ties” between the two countries and the “long-term support” shown by Sweden for Georgia’s integration into the EU.

Norlén said Sweden “actively” continued to support Georgia"s European aspirations and supported the EU enlargement and open door policy, noting Georgia’s “successful progress” on the path of integration. Darchiashvili informed Swedish Parliament officials about the implementation of the EU conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status.

The meeting highlighted the importance of support for Georgia from its partners for ensuring “further progress” on the EU accession path.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia also shared with the members of the Swedish Parliament the vision of the Georgian Government on the peaceful resolution of the conflicts on its territory.
