If de-oligarchization is the goal, the patrons of the UNM should not be afraid of “de-Kezerashvilization” - Irakli Kobakhidze

If de-oligarchization is the goal, the patrons of the United National Movement should not be afraid of “de-Kezerashvilization”. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Dream.

“De-oligarchization means liberating the country from oligarchic influences, which [David] Kezerashvili talked about and gave a confession. This also speaks of his intelligence, as a rule, this confession should not be given by him, but Kezerashvili is a completely unintelligent person and says things accidentally. He admitted from the beginning to the end that he has an informal influence on politics, finances Georgian politics with “black money”. Therefore, he is an oligarch.

Therefore, the adoption of the law is necessary, because where oligarchic influences are admitted, there should be a reaction. If de-oligarchization is the goal, the patrons of the UNM should not be afraid of “de-Kezerashvilization”.

This is actually the task of the country, so we are told. Our initiative was not to adopt this law at all, we are told that it is necessary to eliminate oligarchic influences in Georgian politics. The main case today is that of Kezerashvili and there are other cases where there is oligarchic influence on Georgian politics, when black money, bloody money is spent on Georgian politics. If this is the task, then we need a law on de-oligarchization.

Otherwise, the EU should say that de-oligarchization is not our task. We took the Ukrainian law and adopted it in Georgia, we have a positive conclusion on this law, we have 6 issues to clarify, we will clarify and it will be adopted. If the EU tells us that we do not need de-oligarchization, then we will not adopt this law. It will all depend on the position of the European Union. If they say we don’t need de-oligarchization, we won’t adopt it, and if we need it, then we will adopt the law on de-oligarchization. It’s an easy issue”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
