The US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, tried to influence the judges in order to cause confrontation through them in the court system. Such a statement made today the Judge Levan Murusidze.

“In the beginning, the efforts were made through the non-governmental sector, then political parties, international organizations, which purposefully wrote on the so-called clan and were preparing positions, but they could not achieve the mentioned result, the court could not be seized.

I say with full responsibility, the Embassy has always tried to control the judicial system. Accordingly, this decision was made. As to why they wanted to control the judicial, I will give you an example in this regard.

Mrs. Degnan several times came out in connection with specific cases and said that the specific decision of the court was illegal and not substantiated. It was always surprising to me why the Ambassador should interfere in the affairs in particular, but this was exactly where her purpose seemed to be.

In fact, with this ruling, a message has been sent to the judicial system, and that message is as follows - if the judges do not take into account the Ambassador’s and the Embassy’s position on the particular case, and the judge does not make a decision that is acceptable to the Ambassador and that is consistent with her policy, they will treat you like they did with sanctioned judges.

An example of this is the example of Lasha Chkhikvadze, who made a decision on a specific case, he was met by the representatives of the US Embassy, they demanded to submit a report on a specific case, and they used this as a sanction means not to take him to the US. The issue of Lasha Chkhikvadze is just the tip of the iceberg, because the representatives of the US Embassy have been meeting with him for years.
