46 opposition MPs appeal to President not to convene the extraordinary session requested by them on April 11

Representatives of the opposition appeal to the President not to convene the extraordinary session they requested on April 11. Opposition MP Tamar Kordzaia announced this at a briefing.

“Today we are addressing the President for the 2nd time. After the first appeal, which was about convening an extraordinary session on April 11, 2 MPs unexpectedly left Georgia, so tomorrow the opposition doesn’t have the votes to make a decision regarding the creation of the investigative commission.

I emphasize once again that the purpose of this request to the President is that the opposition in the Parliament agrees on the special importance of the investigative commission, and therefore we want the vote to be held when the opposition is fully represented in the Parliament. We once again apologize to the President for creating this unplanned situation, but it is better to postpone the issue rather than to drop it”, - said Tamar Kordzaia.

46 opposition MPs appealed to the President today with the request to convene an extraordinary session of the Parliament tomorrow, April 11. The only item on the agenda of the extraordinary session should have been the adoption of the draft resolution initiated by the Reforms Group, which envisages the creation of a temporary investigative commission to study corruption and other illegal actions in the court system.
