I advised [David] Kezerashvili that staying away from politics was good for him and for the future of the country, the former Chairman of the United National Movement Nika Melia writes on Facebook, while commenting the investigative article of the BBC.
“A person is not guilty until determined by the court. This is the alphabet of the presumption of innocence. The British court is not the Tbilisi City Court, not to establish the truth, but neither BBC is PosTV.
I will comment briefly on the investigative report published on the BBC.
Let’s imagine that a similar report was made about Bidzina Ivanishvili. What would be the comments of people who today are looking for a “solution”, “explanation”. They go into details, when the problem is not in the details, but in the essence.
I advised David Kezerashvili that his stay away from politics was good both for him and for the future of the country, for replacing autocracy with democracy. And now I advise those who are looking for a “solution” and an “explanation”: in fighting a monster, one should not resemble a monster. No moral superiority is gained by double standards.
Dignity and truth will definitely prevail in this country. This victory needs righteous people who evaluate the situation based on the actual situation and not based on “tasks”.
If we ask the MPs of the Georgian Dream to have the right reaction and the starting point should be a correct and not a “convenient” position, in this case I would like the same from anyone, to have the same reaction as they would have if this report touched anyone else”, - writes Nika Melia.
