Georgia will be ready to receive candidate status, but what will be the political decision is up to the European Council. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Dream in Strasbourg, where he is participating in the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
“We will, of course, share information with our colleagues regarding everything related to the fulfillment of the 12 points. We will talk about our role, as well as the involvement of the opposition.
Of course, it is important for us that the partners are informed about all this, which ultimately should become the basis for granting candidate status. We are clearly and meticulously following all twelve points, we will end this process by the end of the session.
Therefore, the country, the Government will deserve candidate status in December. The chances are 50/50. This is a political decision. If this was a technical decision, we would be 100% ready for candidate status in December, however, a political decision is always a political decision, always subjective and depends on global and regional political processes.
Therefore, it is not worth making a prediction. Georgia will be ready to receive candidate status, but what will be the political decision is up to the European Council”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
