Hearing of Nikoloz Samkharadze was held at the office of European Commission in Copenhagen

The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, held a meeting at the Representative Office of the European Commission in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The meeting was attended by the Representative of the European Commission in Denmark, Per Haugaard, Ambassadors of the EU member states in Copenhagen, representatives from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and non-governmental organizations. Nikoloz Samkharadze presented the report titled “Georgia’s Path to EU Membership: Opportunities and Challenges”.

The Chairman of the Committee expounded upon the reforms that have been instituted by Georgia, the indicators pertaining to the fulfillment of commitments under the EU Association Agreement, and the strides that Georgia has made in the implementation of the 12 recommendations of the European Commission.

“A hearing concerning Georgia was organized in Denmark at the behest of the Representative of the European Commission and garnered considerable attention. I expounded upon the measures undertaken by Georgia and the progress that has been made towards integration into the European Union, along with the unwavering resolve of the populace towards Western integration. Additionally, I emphasized the challenges confronting the country, which include internal political issues, as well as the arduous situation in the occupied regions and the hybrid threats emanating from Russia”, - said Samkharadze.

The meeting focused on the security of the Black Sea region, the issues of EU expansion, the prospect of Georgia’s future membership in NATO, and Europe’s energy security.
