Many of the requirements of the European Union are not fulfilled today. Such a statement made one of the leaders of Lelo, Salome Samadashvili, before the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Zbigniew Rau.
“In terms of this country’s accession to the European Union and NATO, Poland has always been one of the main allies of our country. Therefore, it is very important today, when a few months remain before the historic decision of the EU, to share with the Polish Foreign Minister the vision related to the challenges in the process of obtaining candidate status for Georgia.
Unfortunately, we see that many of the requirements of the EU are not fulfilled today. Our task, together with our European partners, is to increase pressure on the authorities as much as possible in the coming months, so that we can change this situation and the country does not lose a historic chance to receive candidate status when this issue is on the agenda at the end of the year.
Poland’s position on this issue is particularly important because Poland’s role in the EU has grown even more during the Ukraine-Russia war”, - said Salome Samadashvili.
