As a part of the visit to Sweden, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze held a meeting with the Director General of the Swedish Agency for Peace, Security & Development (Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), Per Olsson Fridh.
The deliberation covered the security issues, Geneva Talks and the expectations of Georgia in this regard. The discourse included the EUMM, its advantages and challenges, as well as the projects undertaken by FBA in cooperation with Georgia.
“Mainly, we discussed the importance of Geneva Talks and the EU Monitoring Mission, our expectations and the respective challenges. We touched upon the deployment of the EU Monitoring Mission at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border as well”, - said Samkharadze.
According to him, Sweden has significant representation to Georgia and in the South Caucasus in general through the EU missions, the training and exercising of which is assigned to FBA. One of the topics of the conversation was as well the Black Sea region security and the challenges related to the defense capacity of Georgia.
