It was confirmed, that the actions undertaken by the state towards Mikheil Saakashvili were compliant with the basic human rights standards, writes the Speaker of the Parliament on the social network.
“The European Court of Human Rights did not satisfy the request of Mikheil Saakashvili on his transfer abroad. It was confirmed, that the actions undertaken by the state towards the former president were propriety and compliant with the basic human rights standards.
Forthwith the arrest of Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia has become the target of a full-scale disinformation campaign, including the statements, demarches, and resolutions, inflicting unprecedented damage to our country and people.
Both the Georgian opposition and NGOs, as well as the foreign politicians and diplomats, willingly or unwillingly participated in this campaign.
The only will the Georgian people anticipate and deserve today is to oblige all the forces damaging Georgia, to eliminate the prejudice inflicted in words and deeds with the same diligence. It would serve as an affirmation of friendship and respect of the Georgian people”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
