Unfortunately, we heard a lot of speculations about the March 7-8 protests, as well as slander and insults against police, said Minister of Internal Affairs during his speech in the Parliament.

“About a month ago, I received questions from 8 MPs: was the force used by the law enforcement officers against the demonstrators on March 7-8 proportionate? Was the force used by the police against the demonstrators on March 7-8 an illegal interference in the freedom of assembly and expression? And whether special means were used in compliance with the rule.

I will try to answer these questions fully, although I think that each member of the legislative body, no matter which political group’s agenda you follow, can judge and draw the right conclusions about the moderate, highly professional and fair actions of the police during the events of March.

On March 7 and 8, protests were held in the vicinity of the Georgian legislative body and on Rustaveli Avenue, which repeatedly exceeded the norms of assembly and demonstration and turned into violent, non-peaceful mass actions”, - said Vakhtang Gomelauri.
