Georgia is a very valuable partner for NATO, that was clearly reinforced with the decisions we took in Madrid - Javier Colomina

Georgia is a very valuable partner for NATO and that was clearly reinforced with the decisions we took in Madrid where we decided to enhance the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP). Such a statement made today Javier Colomina, the NATO Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

“Where we decided to approve a tailored support package since then we have decided to invest human resources and financial resources to be able to increase practical cooperation and also the political dialogue with Georgia, which has been very regular and vibrant in the last months.

I conveyed the concerns on the level of implementation of reforms, particularly judicial reform, electoral reform, the decisions with regard to the central election commission, reforms regarding depolarization, the aspects which are concerning for us.

I also conveyed the message with regard to support for Ukraine, it is for us at most priority since Russia’s war against Ukraine started on February 24, 2022, and it is the biggest priority and first priority for the Vilnius Summit that will take place on 11-12 of July and we expect from our partners, particularly from the ones that are vulnerable as Georgia to do its utmost in supporting Ukraine”, - he added.

Javier Colomina arrived in Tbilisi for an official visit to discuss NATO-Georgia cooperation and the country’s progress on the Euro-Atlantic integration path.
