Prime Minister of Georgia meets special international representative on the Enforcement of EU Sanctions David O’Sullivan, Ambassador James O’Brien and Kumar Iyer from the EU, USA and UK

Prime Minister of Georgia met the Special International Representative on the Enforcement of EU Sanctions – David O’Sullivan, Ambassador James O’Brien and Kumar Iyer from the EU, USA and UK today.

Irakli Garibashvili welcomed the visit of the EU Special Representative to the country and highlighted its importance in the context of Georgian authorities numerously expressing a keen interest in close cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative during meetings held in Brussels. Focus of the meeting today was made on the permanent coordination of Georgia with the EU and international community on financial sanctions imposed against Russia.

Effective operation of respective institutions of Georgia was highlighted for the adherence with sanctions, prevention of their avoidance and successful cooperation of Georgia with the EU and USA towards this end. It was also noted that efforts made by Georgia are commended by the international community, including the US Department of State.

Focus was made on the firm support of Ukraine by Georgia in political and humanitarian dimensions.

Meeting held within the Government Administration was attended by Pavel Herczynski, Ambassador of the EU to Georgia; Kelly C. Degnan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Georgia and Mark Clayton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UK to Georgia.

Attendees from Georgia included Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Ambassador Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia and Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration.
