Ilia Darchiashvili meets with David O’Sullivan, the EU Sanctions Envoy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with David O’Sullivan, the EU Sanctions Envoy, James O"Brien, the Head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination in the Biden administration, and Kumar Iyer, the Director General for Economics, Science and Technology at the UK Foreign Office.

The sides emphasized Georgia’s coordination with international partners on financial sanctions imposed on Russia following its military aggression against Ukraine. The Georgian side once again confirmed the commitment of Georgia’s relevant agencies to protect the regime of financial sanctions, as repeatedly confirmed in the relevant reports of the partners, namely by the United States of America, and during special missions’ visits to Georgia. The EU special representative and other guests positively assessed the ongoing cooperation with Georgia in the implementation of financial sanctions and expressed the readiness to continue active dialogue.

The issue of Georgia’s accession to the European Union was also discussed at the meeting. Ilia Darchiashvili once again confirmed the European choice of the country and its population and the government"s commitment to carry out necessary reforms to move forward on the EU integration path.
