Minister of Foreign Affairs is on his working visit to Brussels

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili will hold meetings within the framework of his working visit to Brussels.

Ilia Darchiashvili will meet with high-ranking representatives of the EU institutions, including the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, and the Director General of the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission, Gert Jan Koopmann.

The process of Georgia’s integration into the European Union, as well as the agenda of bilateral relations, will be discussed within the framework of the meetings.

The main focus will be on the issue of granting Georgia candidate status at the end of the year, as well as the progress achieved by the country in terms of fulfilling the 12 priorities defined by the European Commission.

In this context, attention will be focused on the oral report made by the European Commission regarding Georgia’s application to join the EU, where Georgia’s progress in various directions is outlined, as well as the analytical report published by the European Commission in February, which positively evaluates Georgia’s efforts and progress in the context of legislative alignment with the EU.

During the meetings, special attention will be paid to the process of sectoral rapprochement with the EU. At the same time, attention will be focused on the positive dynamics of high-level visits between Georgia and the EU.
