Today is the time for unity and to overcome this tragedy together. Such a statement made the President of Georgia, while commenting the tragedy in Racha.
“I want to express my deep sorrow over the tragedy in Racha. I would like to offer my condolences to the families of the dead and pray with the families who are still waiting for the missing people to be alive. This is a great tragedy for the country, for all of Georgia. Today, the most important thing is to stand together to do everything we can to help people get through this difficult time.
I want to thank all the rescuers, all the citizens who did everything on the spot to save people. I would also like to say that my administration and I personally express solidarity with the local leadership, authorities, all agencies, the government. Today is the time to unite and overcome this tragedy together. My administration and I personally will be involved in everything where our activity is needed. In the coming days, we will see for ourselves how we can contribute to overcoming this tragedy.
I would like to thank the rescuers, their role is not over. It is very difficult for them to work under these conditions. I know how much they can do in these very difficult conditions to save people"s lives. Also, I would like to thank all our partner countries, which expressed solidarity with our society today, and this is also very important.
I heard from the Prime Minister that we do not yet consider it necessary to get the help of other countries, other partners. If this need arises, I am ready to participate in contacting the leaders of different countries if my role is necessary. We are facing this very big tragedy together and we will be together”, - said Salome Zourabichvili.
