Participating in a political farce is not our goal - that’s why we don’t support the creation of a temporary investigative commission of the Parliament, said Mikheil Daushvili, MP from the “For Georgia” party, while talking about the initiative to create an investigative commission regarding the Shovi disaster.
“Today we actually see that, on the one hand, the [United] National Movement is trying to use the worst tragedy that happened for its own political purposes, to get political benefits.
On the other hand, Georgian Dream is using this malicious behavior of UNM to avoid responsibility for the inappropriate response to this worst tragedy. Our aim is not to participate in this political farce.
Before this process started, we addressed the questions to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and in fact, we started pre-investigative actions in order to establish the truth about the incident, to reveal where state institutions and officials did not act, where their responsibility lies. If we do not get answers to the questions, of course, this can become a legitimate basis for the creation of the investigative commission”, - said Mikheil Daushvili.
