The United National Movement announced that it was summoning the Minsiter of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri to Parliament through means of interpellation.
Other opposition parties also support the demand, saying that the Georgian dream’s opposition to the creation of a parliamentary investigative commission raises questions.
According to the UNM, the faction Chairperson MP Tina Bokuchava has already registered the letter of request in the legislature. The party’ request is based on the paragraph 2 of Article 43 of the Constitution of Georgia and Article 149 of the Regulations of the Parliament of Georgia.
The UNM MPs have questions to the Minister regarding the tragedy that happened in Shovi.
The natural disaster in Shovi killed dozens of people on August 3. 26 bodies have already been found. Several others are still missing. The search operation still continues in the disaster zone.
