Control of visible emissions of vehicles starts on roads from today

The control of visible emissions of vehicles will begin on the roads from today, September 4.

The control will be carried out by mobile crews of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, by using special tools, in accordance with the norms and rules defined by the government decree.

In case of detection of the violation of the law, the individual will be fined 100 GEL for the 1st time, in case of repetition of the violation (the same action committed 15 days after the 1st fine) - 300 GEL, in case of repetition of the violation 15 days after the last fine - 600 GEL. Legal entities will be fined 500 GEL for the 1st time, 1500 GEL for the 2nd, and 3000 GEL for the 3rd offence.

Evasion of the emission control is punishable by the same sanction. If the fine is paid within 10 days, the amount of the fine will be reduced by 20%.
