The employees of Akhmeta police division under Kakheti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative activities detained previously convicted A.K. (DoB 1973) for extortion and threats against a family member.

The committed crime envisions up to 7 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the accused person demanded from his mother - M.K. (DoB 1952), to register residential houses worth 170 thousand GEL on his name in Tbilisi and Akhmeta, otherwise he threatened to damage her health and also threatened with liquidation.

Police, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained A.K. as a result of immediate activities.

The investigation into the facts of extortion and threats against a family member in order to obtain a large amount of property is being conducted under Article 181, Part II, Sub-paragraph “C” and Article 151, Part II, Sub-paragraph “D” of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
