About four weeks left before the publication of the enlargement report, and three months before a final decision is made. What we expect from Georgia is to speed up and achieve as much progress as possible. Such a statement made today the Ambassador of the European Union in Georgia.
“At the end of June there was an oral update and as you all know, European Commission at the end of June assessed that out of the 12 priorities three were fully implemented.
From end of June several months have passed. So progress has been made and the state of play will be assessed precisely one month from now.
We are expecting an enlargement report. Clearly, progress has been made on some priorities, where we had only partial implementation.
There are still several weeks left. So we hope that all hands will be on deck. The work will intensify and as much progress as possible will be made until the publication of the enlargement report months from now.
All priorities are equally important. But as you have heard from the EU High Representative, who was here only a few days ago, we would especially expect progress on de-oligarchization, as well as on judicial reform, on media freedom, and in general, as much progress as possible on all fronts.
There are still several weeks remaining till the enlargement report publication.
We should expect it around in the middle of October. And then of course, as I have repeated many times, the final decision rests with current 27 EU member states that should meet at the end of December, at the highest political level, at the level of presidents and prime ministers, and decide on next steps by unanimity”, - said Pawel Herczynski.
