We originally planned the State Budget of the current year in a rather conservative manner. It was based on the projected 5% growth indicator, however our right policies resulted in the high economic growth and we are thus making adjustments to the State Budget of the current year to increase it with GEL 500 mln. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.
“The Minister of Finance of Georgia will share detailed information with the general public about it after the Executive Government Meeting and will specify how the referred 500 MLN GEL will be distributed. Herewith, I wish to remind everyone that we have been adjusting the actual State Budgets for the third year in a row. It happened so in 2021: we adjusted the State Budget twice within a year. We made adjustments last year – in 2022 – and this year again, we will be increasing the State Budget with 500 MLN GEL.
We managed to finance very important programs in recent years. Same applies to the School Rehabilitation Program. Of course, the State would not have managed it otherwise. Overall, 880 schools and over 1000 kindergartens are covered under our programs, along with increased social security allowances as 200 GEL is paid to the socially vulnerable population, making it over 500 MLN GEL a year in total. Over half a billion GEL!
Salaries were increased to policemen, soldiers and every civil servant. Salaries of wages of policemen and soldiers were increased by 40%. This process will of course continue. Every civil servant will get an increase on their salaries again in January 2024. Overall, it will be a 50% increase for the police and army, while 30% for civil servants”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
