In New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock.
At the meeting, the sides focused on Georgia’s EU integration process. Ilia Darchiashvili provided Annalena Baerbock with detailed information about the efforts made by Georgia in fulfilling the recommendations of the European Commission and expressed the hope that Georgia’s progress and reforms implemented in various areas will be properly recognized, and this will be reflected in the relevant decision on granting the country a candidate status.
The ministers reviewed the issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and the close partnership between the two countries. In this context, Ilia Darchiashvili emphasized the importance of the German Federal Foreign Minister’s visit to Georgia this year.
He thanked his colleague for Germany’s strong support for Georgia"s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
