Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Olaf Scholz, Federal Chancellor of Germany.
The issues discussed at the meeting included the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the countries and the process of Georgia’s European integration.
At the meeting with Olaf Scholz, the Prime Minister emphasized the unprecedented dynamic of the political dialogue between the countries and pointed out Georgia’s appreciation of the strong political messages of Germany.
The parties expressed readiness to further deepen and strengthen the close multidimensional cooperation between Georgia and Germany.
Irakli Garibashvili and Olaf Scholz reviewed the situation with European integration and assessed the steps taken by Georgia. The Prime Minister briefed Olaf Scholz on the implemented and ongoing reforms on the path toward European integration and emphasized that the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations is at the final stage. According to him, Georgia expects the EU’s fair and correct political decision at the end of this year. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of granting the candidate status to Georgia and pointed out that, in this process, Georgia is counting on support from the Federal Republic of Germany.
The meeting between Irakli Garibashvili and Olaf Scholz was held on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.
