The Speaker of the Parliament hosted the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančič.
At the meeting, the importance of the first official visit of the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia this year was underlined given the fact that 2023 is the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Speaker Papuashvili highlighted that Slovenia is a strong supporter of Georgia on the EU and NATO integration path and expressed his gratitude to the Slovenian side. The parties deliberated on Georgia-Slovenia bilateral relations, the security challenges in the region and the progress of Georgia on the EU and NATO integration road.
The emphasis was made on the significance of the intensification of parliamentary diplomacy in cooperation between the countries for the achievement of tangible outcomes. The parties expressed their commitment to enhancing the bonds between the Friendship Groups and sector Committees. The climate change challenges were accentuated at the meeting along with the expressed commitment of the parties to further collaborating in this direction.
According to Klakočar Zupančič, Slovenia approves the EU enlargement since European integration stands as the best way to address the modern world challenges. She hailed the reforms that Georgia undertakes and expressed her intact support for the EU and NATO membership of Georgia.
