Ambassador Erin Elizabeth McKee, USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, arrived in Georgia following a visit to Armenia. Assistant Administrator McKee will head the U.S. delegation at the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum advancing the U.S. partnership with Georgia as it solidifies itself as a key Euro-Atlantic trade, transport, logistics, and energy hub.

Assistant Administrator McKee will meet with Government of Georgia officials to reaffirm USAID’s three-decade-long strategic partnership with Georgia. While here, she will launch USAID’s new Educating the Future Program, a new partnership between USAID and Georgia’s Ministry of Education and Science to strengthen teacher training. Assistant Administrator McKee will also meet with civil society leaders, journalists, educators, and members of the business community. This is Assistant Administrator McKee’s second visit to Georgia, following a visit in November 2022.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. government’s leading development agency, currently invests in 40 development activities to support Georgia and its people, building on approximately $1.9 billion in assistance provided to Georgia since 1992. USAID works hand-in-hand with Georgia’s government and people to strengthen Georgia’s security, prosperity, and democracy and advance the Georgian people’s stated goal of achieving Euro-Atlantic integration. During our three-decade-long partnership, USAID has supported Georgia to: ensure reliable supplies of heat and electricity to homes, hospitals, and schools; improve public services, including education and health care; create prosperity and opportunity for Georgian families and communities; and protect fundamental rights that are guaranteed by the Georgian constitution and that underpin every aspect of Georgia’s security, prosperity, and democracy.
