Plenary session of the Parliament opened amid noise and controversy

The plenary session of the Parliament opened today amid noise and controversy. Aleko Elisashvili, Citizens Party, sought to make a statement about the recent incident involving Irakli Beraia, Georgian Dream, who recently insulted some female opposition legislators, but the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili turned his microphone off.

Elisashvili called for Beraia’s resignation, leading to a verbal confrontation. Papuashvili expelled him from the hall.

The argument continued during the session when opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze also attempted to speak about Irakli Beraia but had the microphone cut off.
