I am absolutely sure that there is a very important debate going on. We need to make progress with the enlargement process that we have. It is the decision of the European Union that we are ready for enlargement, which we are considering with the Balkan countries, Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia, German Chancellor said in Brussels, at the European Council summit.

When asked whether Germany would support the granting of candidate status to Georgia, Olaf Scholz replied: “I have already said that we support the European Commission’s proposal for enlargement”.
